kingtideKING TIDE

Get in a dancing mood with rude boy royalty, as King Tide celebrates the release of their sensational new album, ‘ROOTS POP REGGAE.’

King Tide invite listeners to get on the bus and to help them herald a new era in Australian reggae when they tour to Queensland, New South Wales, Canberra and Victoria  for the summer of dub 2009/2010.

Renowned on the live scene for their high-energy performance, King Tide was on the road non-stop in 2008.  Now after a short beak, the band is back with a new show and a brand new sound with a brand new album! ‘ROOTS POP REGGAE’is testimony to the band’s nuanced skills in music making. This new 12-track album is a veritable feast, offering up an atmospheric blend of flying cymbals, stepping drums, skank guitar, sexy organ bubble, solid moving bass lines, wickid lyrics and sweet vocal hooks. Tightly structured songs abound in a bright fusion of roots, pop and reggae.

King Tide is presently touring all summer before going to Europe for the Summer festival circuit. Starting of the tour at the Womad festival U.K. Get in a dancing mood!Feel the level vibes!Yes I it’s King Tide.

HANCOCKHANCOCK BASEMENT

It’s been a healthy few years since three guys decided to take on an infamous university landmark and use it as a moniker for their rock ‘n’ roll future.

Since that time, Hancock Basement have played with a ridiculous number of on-the-pulse international and national acts (including The Presets, The Sleepy Jackson, Datarock, Digitalism and Cut Off Your Hands), driven their orange-kinda-yellow van from state to state, ditched the make-up and silly costumes, and even gained a bass-player on the way.

KIM churchillKIM CHURCHIL

Kim Churchill is an 18 year old centering his playing around ‘experimental acoustic guitar’. His approach is immediately unique and has been recognized already throughout the Australian music scene. Kim’s Finger picking and body percussion begins the array of different sounds, all of which are carefully woven together with the inclusion of heartfelt vocals, driving stomp box and powerful blues harmonica licks. Kim’s music reflects his coastal lifestyle and is driven by his passion for the ocean. In the six months since his completion of high school, Kim has already had a profound impact upon the Australian music scene, sharing the bill with acts such as Xavier Rudd, Ben Harper and John Butler. He has played with Aussie acts including Ash Grunwald, Dallas Frasca, Jeff Lang, Marshall and the Fro and Lloyd Spiegel.

DUB DUB GOOSE

Phat horn lines, deep grooves, original lyrics and wacked out song titles! Occasionally joined by sound twiddler Spike (who puts the dub in a previously undub sounding band) they are now continually writing new tunes, adventuring, gathering momentum and cash from gigs and soup selling to record an album in late 2009!

owenOWEN CAMPBELL

In the words of Alistair Hullit Owen truely was “born and raised on salted oats and tales of the savage past”. Born in Australia to an Irish mother and Scottish father he was introduced to a diverse range of music at a very young age…

Playing guitar since he was 10 years old his style has developed over 15 years into a gravelly blend of blues, roots, soul an country, with a voice that belies his 25years,not to mention his slide guitar abilites……

In the past 2 years Owen has been touring non stop, impressing audiences all over the globe, from private shows in Papua New Guinea to the highest blues festival in the world,The Himalayan Blues festival in Kathmandu,Nepal.

bendry BEN DRYSDALE

Ben Drysdale has performed in music and theatre for most of his life. He finally broke out of bedroom/campfire/open mic scene in 2003 when he began playing at The Royal in Vancouver. Since returning to Australia in 2004 he has had a chance to develop his music by playing regularly at local live music showcase events which he has been organising in Canberra. He feels blessed to have had the chance to work with some of Canberra’s top musicians, some of whom he co-erced into playing in his band “Smitten”. His style ranges from soft folky ballads to a rocky contemporary sound, with sincere yet often quite cheeky lyrics.

rafeRAFE

“If Kermit the Frog, Rowlf the Dog and Fozzie Bear got together and had a three way Muppet baby, its name would be Rafe.” Rafe Morris is an Australian singer songwriter with unique warmth in his stage presence and good humour in his music. Once the front man of the 8 piece Ska band Dahahoo, Rafe now stands alone on stage. It’s now much more obvious when he makes mistakes, but he doesn’t mind looking like an idiot. He’s used to it. Rafe is currently traveling the world and spreading his optimistic cynicism as far as he can. Offensive without offending, controversial without controverting, shaping the English language without a mould, Rafe is tops and worthy of your ears.
